[ILLINOIS WOMEN] Vanessa DiBernardo, daughter of former U.S. international and NASL star Angelo DiBernardo, is among six players Illinois has signed.

Vanessa DiBernardo was a two-time NSCAA/adidas All-American at Waubonsie Valley (Ill.) High School.

“Her lineage is great and her father’s influence is evident,” said Coach Janet Rayfield. “Vanessa has a mind for the game and the skill to go with it. Hervision and passing ability make everyone around her more dangerous, and yet she has the ability to be dangerous herself.”

The 2010 class consists of Kassidy Brown (Lake Zurich, Ill./Carmel Catholic), Jannelle Flaws (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South), LaurenParkin (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville), Megan Pawloski (Belleville, Ill./Althoff Catholic) and Sarah Wieder(Chesterfield, Mo./Marquette).

“We are eager to bring in some of the top talent in the country, and we are thrilled and proud that they are Illinois products,” Rayfield said.  “Thisclass brings talent, passion for the sport, pride for the institution, and pride for the state of Illinois. The class of 2010 has speed, goal-scoring ability, craftiness, goalkeeping, and a tremendoussense of work ethic uncommon to this generation  – all the elements of a great team in a single class. They will be an exciting class to watch, to coach, and to develop and will continue to movethis program forward on the national scene.”
