Yanks shine against the big boys

[AMERICANS ABROAD] It was good night for Americans in EPL action. Landon Donovan and Tim Howard were on the winning side for Everton against leader Chelsea, Brad Friedel's Aston Villa held second-place Man. United to a 1-1 tie, Marcus Hahnemann picked up a shutout win for Wolves against Tottenham, while Jonathan Spector's West Ham beat Birmingham, 2-0.

Picked up yellow card in second half.

Landon Donovan (Everton), 90 minutes, 2-1, vs. Chelsea.
Assisted on Louis Saha's first goal with corner kick and was taken down for penalty Saha missed at the half.

Brad Friedel (Aston Villa), 90 minutes, 1-1, vs. Man. United.
Made big save on dipping shot by Wayne Rooney to preserve tie against 10-man United.

Marcus Hahnemann (Wolves), 90 minutes, 1-0, vs. Tottenham.
Toughest save came early in the game when he stopped Nico Kranjcar.

Tim Howard (Everton), 90 minutes, 2-1, vs. Chelsea.
Relatively quiet night against the league leaders.

Jonathan Spector (West Ham), sub: 45 minutes, 2-0, vs. Birmingham.
Came on at halftime at left back for Herita Nkongolo Ilunga.
