The ankle injury suffered by U.S. midfielder Benny Feilhaber on Monday while practicing with his Danish club Aarhus was initially suspected to be a severe sprain that would sideline him for two weeks. However, scans revealed cartilage damage. Aarhus press officer Christian Haarslov said Feilhaber will be rested for a week and a half and will then undergo another evaluation by team doctors.
The timeline for Feilhaber's return to action with the World Cup-bound U.S. national team, which had hoped to test its European-based players in a March 3 friendly at the Netherlands, is thus unknown. The Danish Superliga returns from winter break March 7.
