Rangers goalie Allan McGregor suffered facial injuries after he was head-butted in the eye in what was described as a vicious attack in the streets of
Glasgow after a night out at the Karbon nightclub, a popular nightspot of Glaswegian soccer players.
Friends found the 28-year-old McGregor on the ground covered in blood. There was so
much blood he was at first thought to have been knifed. McGregor was hospitalized and then released.
McGregor's father, Alex, called for Rangers
manager Walter Smith to ban his son from going out. "He doesn't have the common sense to stop going himself," he said. The attack came after Rangers' match
against St. Johnstone at McDiarmid Park was called off because of a frozen field.
