Six U.S. national team regulars missed Wednesday's friendly against the Netherlands because they are injured. Which one of the them can the USA not do without?
Why can we only pick one? I would have said Dempsey, Cherundolo and Onyewu. If I had to pick only 2 it would be Cherundolo and Dempsey.
Man, that's a TOUGH choice. For me, there's 3 players on the list...Davies, Dempsey & Gooch...but, ultimately, I chose Dempsey, because he has a certain hutzpah & "anger" that no other USMNT player has IMO.
Gooch all the way. We need his tall and commanding presence in the back line, especially on free kicks and corner kicks.
Everyone overestimates Gooch's technical abilities...his vision/read is below average, his positioning is average, and athletically he is a super presence...over-rated by size alone. Technical attacking players will have a field day on the ground.
