USA-Germany showdown set for Cleveland Browns Stadium

[DATEBOOK] The USA will face Germany in a battle of the world's top two ranked teams May 22 at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

The USA has beaten Germany twice in the last six months, winning, 1-0, on Abby Wambach's goal before a record crowd of  28,377 in Augsburg and, 3-2, in the championship game of the Algarve Cup in Portugal.

The match will be the first between the two teams on American soil for the first time since the 2003 Women’s World Cup semifinals, which Germany won, 3-0.

The match will kick off at 6 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

The match will mark the 27th meeting between the two countries (counting two games against the former West Germany) with the USA having won 18, lost four and tied four.

The match will be the first for the U.S. women during the WPS season. The league will not play games on the weekend of May 22.

Germany is preparing to host the 2011 Women's World Cup.
