Frenchman takes Israel job

Luis Fernandez, who starred in France's midfield in the 1980s and was a member of its 1984 European Championship-winng team, has been named Israel's national team coach. Fernandez, 50, coached Paris St. Germain and Athletic Bilbao after retiring as a player. Israel has reached a major competition finals once, in 1970 when it played in the World Cup in Mexico.
