Rapids spoil Vasquez's debut

[MLS] Martin Vasquez's debut as Chivas USA head coach ended in disappointment as the visiting Colorado Rapids beat Chivas, 1-0, Friday on Jamaican forward Omar Cummings' goal in the 55th minute before an announced crowd of 18,653 at the Home Depot Center.

The win was just the third opening-day win for the Rapids, who enter their 15th season.

Colorado's defense did an excellent job of shutting down Chivas USA. Marvell Wynne played the entire game for the Rapids just 24 hours after arriving in a trade from Toronto FC.

Chivas USA's big offseason signing, Salvadoran Osael Romero, wasn't a factor in the game.
