[DALLAS CUP] The U.S. under-19 national team fell to its Mexican counterpart, 1-0, in Sunday's marquee match on the opening day of the Super Group at Dallas Cup
XXXI. The Americans finished the game with 10 players after losing defender Chad Barson to a red card. Next up for Thomas
Rongen's Yanks: matches against two foreign teams loaded with American talent.
The USA featured two MLS players: Amobi Okugo, who debuted
for Philadelphia Union on Thursday and moved to the middle of the backline after Barson's red card, and recent Houston Dynamo signee Francisco Navas Cobo, who
was excellent for the Americans. Maryland goalie Zac MacMath saved a penalty.
Barson was one of three Akron players on the backline along with
Zarek Valentin and Kofi Sarkodie.
The lone foreign-based player in the U.S. starting lineup was Moises Orozco of Mexican club Tigres.
The three U.S. club teams competing in the expanded Super Group all lost on
Sunday. In one of the most exciting matches of the day, the FC Dallas academy team fell to Chelsea, 4-2.
