Danny Rose makes memorable debut

[ENGLAND] In his English Premier League debut, teenager Danny Rose put on a performance fit for, well, Broadway. Ten minutes into the North London derby Rose scored for Tottenham on a left-footed volley from 30 yards and helped Spurs down Arsenal, 2-1.

The result ended Spurs' 20-game winless streak against Arsenal in league play dating back to November 1999 and all but ended Arsenal's title hopes.

Gareth Bale added to Spurs' lead with his first goal of the season, and Brazilian keeper Huerelho Gomes thwarted Arsenal with three outstanding saves late in the game before Dane Nicklas Bendtner scored a consolation goal for Arsenal.

Arsenal is third in the EPL, six points behind leader Chelsea with only four games to play.

Spurs is fifth in the EPL, one point behind Manchester City in fourth place. (Both teams have an extra game remaining.)

Rose's goal was audacious and keeper Gomes' performance was jaw-dropping.
