FC Dallas hires former Penn State coach

FC Dallas has hired former Penn State head coach Barry Gorman as the club’s first technical director. "We are very excited to add Barry to the club, and look forward to his leadership as technical director,” FC Dallas Investor-Operator and Hunt Sports Group Chairman Clark Hunt said. “Barry’s proven soccer acumen, coaching experience, and domestic, collegiate, and international soccer relationships are a tremendous asset to FC Dallas. We are confident that he will do an outstanding job in his new role while working side-by-side with Coach Schellas Hyndman to reach our goal of winning championships.”

Gorman will direct the club’s player personnel operations including international and domestic scouting, trades and acquisitions, player contracts, and team administration. Additionally, Gorman will evaluate the development of FC Dallas Juniors prospects for the professional team, and he will work in conjunction with Hyndman to monitor and promote the quality of the professional team. He will also manage FC Dallas' relationships with its international partner clubs.

Gorman, who left Penn State last week, was is the school's all-time winningest coach with a 266-158-42 overall record in 22 years as head coach, leading the Nittany Lions to three Big Ten Championships.
