Win in D.C. would mean lots to Red Bulls

The 4-1-0 New York Red Bulls are already off to their best start ever. They broke an MLS record 29-game road winless streak by beating Seattle, 1-0, on April 3. And, as Michael Lewis puts it, "It seems that every time they play and win, they bury another ghost, snap an ignominious regular-season streak or reach a milestone."

If the Bulls win on Saturday at D.C. United, they would equal last season's pathetic total of five wins in only six games and 37 days. Last year, they did not reach win No. 5 until Oct. 24, the final game of the season.

A victory against winless D.C. United would also snap a 10-game winless streak (0-8-2) at RFK that dates back to a 2-1 win on Oct. 8, 2005. A win would also end a 20-game away winless streak (0-17-3) against conference foes that goes back to a 2-1 win over then first-year expansion team Toronto FC, 2-1, on June 6, 2007.

The Red Bulls also own a 10-game road losing skid vs. Eastern foes. Their last road point in the conference came with scoreless draw at D.C. Aug. 30, 2008.
