[MEXICO] Santos will be ruing its failure to capture the 2010 Torneo Bicentenario, Mexico's spring championship, after twice missing on penalty kicks that would
have clinched the title. Instead, the title went to Toluca in the sixth round of the shootout after the final ended in a 0-0 tie and the two-leg series finished 2-2.
Matias Vuoso and Carlos Morales both hit their shots wide to keep Toluca alive, and in the sixth round goalie Alfredo Talavera saved Fernando Arce's shot after Edgar Duenas put Toluca ahead.
The second leg went to overtime, where Vuoso also had a chance to win the series for Santos but he shot wide from close range.
Toluca's Torneo Bicentenario championship gave the
Red Devils 10 league titles, tying them with Club America for second place behind Guadalajara with 11.
