Japan's Okada offers to quit

[WORLD CUP WARMUPS] Japan coach Takeshi Okada offered to quit after the Blue Samurai lost at home to archrival South Korea. Argentina coach Diego Maradona was pleased, but Australia's Pim Verbeek was livid with two of his players. Meanwhile, Portugal's Carlos Queiroz was surprisingly low key after his team's 0-0 tie at home against Cape Verde Islands.  For more on Monday's warmups ...

-- For the second time this year, Japan lost to archrival South Korea, and following Monday's defeat in Saitama, Okada offered his resignation, which wasn't accepted by the Japan Football Association.

-- Maradona was pleased with Argentina's 5-0 win over Canada in Buenos Aires, its only home game before the World Cup. "We made our fans happy," he said.

-- Australia captured the the Down Under derby, which drew 55,659 spectators, with a 2-1 comeback win over New Zealand that turned ugly. Verbeek blasted Socceroos Vince Grella and Tim Cahill for fouls on Leo Bertos that forced the New Zealand midfielder out of the game on a stretcher.

-- Despite a full-strength squad that included such stars as Cristiano Ronaldo, Deco and Cape Verde Islands-born Nani, Portugal couldn't beat former colony Cape Verde Islands.
