Anelka goes off ...

[FRANCE] After a zombie-like performance in the first half of France's 2-0 loss to Mexico, striker Nicolas Anelka woke up at halftime. He responded to criticism by Coach Raymond Domenech of his play by launching a profanity-laced attack that has gotten him sent home.

Domenech criticized Anelka, France's center forward, for playing out of position and threatened to bench him after Anelka took exception to Domenech's remarks.

According to the French newspaper L'Equipe, Anelka told Domenech to "go f*** yourself, you dirty son of a whore" in the locker room at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Anelka was then replaced by Andre-Pierre Gignac for the second half and was sent home on Saturday.

Anelka didn't deny he had a heated discussion with the highly unpopular Domenech but denied he said those exact words.

French captain Patrice Evra confirmed an exchange took place but placed the blame not on Anelka but the "traitor" who leaked it to the press.

France's 2-0 loss left it with little chance of reaching the second round.

The Bleus conclude group play Tuesday against host South Africa.

My but that was a refreshing and satisfying match.

Domenech should stop consulting horoscopes and start coaching.

Anelka played like a man bored out of his mind. Zidane said that Domenech is not a coach and France has no team. The coach is the glue that holds the players together and motivates them to greatness, or in this case, ineptness.
