University shut down in World Cup viewing dispute

[OFF THE POST] The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology shut down, suspending classes and emptying its dorms, after students fought over whether to cancel classes to watch the World Cup.

At least five students were injured in violence between two groups of students -- those who wanted to postpone exams and start vacation early to watch the games and those who wanted classes to continue.

The fighting was prompted by the decision of the school's soccer fans to lock its gates.

Earlier this month, hundreds of angry fans smashed vehicles in Dhaka after power outages interrupted live TV broadcasts of the Argentina-Nigeria match.
