[URUGUAY-SOUTH KOREA] Luis Suarez scored two goals to lead two-time champion Uruguay into the final eight of the WorldCup for the first time since 1970 with a 2-1 win over South Korea.

What we liked …

— Suarez justified his $40 million price tag withclinical finishing seen by few strikers at the World Cup. The Ajax striker was gifted his first goal in the 8th minute but hit a superb winner off the far post to win the game.

–Suarez’s second goal came against the run of play as South Korea dominated the Celeste and equalized on Lee Chung-Yong‘s header. Park Chu-Young of Monaco, Park Ji-Sung of Manchester United and Lee, the young Bolton Wanderers star, were again excellent for South Korea.

What we didn’t like …

— Suarez’s first goal was one of the easiest of the tournament. Diego Forlan‘spass from the left side split five Korean defenders. Korean keeper Jung Sung-Ryong failed to get to the ball, allowing Suarez to stroke the ball home at the farpost.

— Uruguay chose to sit on its lead instead of going for the knockout punch.

— There were huge sections of empty seats in the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
