Mexico-Argentina broadcast smashes records

[TELEVISION WATCH] Sunday afternoon's broadcast of the Mexico-Argentina match was the most-watched program ever on Spanish-language television. Almost 9.4 million viewers watched the game on Univision.

Coverage of the game was the No. 1 program of the week in any language in such key markets as Los Angeles, Miami, Houston and Dallas among total viewers 2+, adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and persons 12-34.

Saturday's USA-Ghana game on Univision attracted more than 4.5 million viewers 2+, making the top 10 among the network's most-watched soccer matches in Univision's history.

The combined audiences for the two games:

-- USA-Ghana (19.4 million).
-- Mexico-Argentina (14.9 million)

    Finally, more Americans watched the USA game than Mexico's game. It's a step in the right direction.
