Attendance at the 2010 World Cup passed the 3 million mark with Wednesday's Spain-Germany semifinal. After the weekend's games -- the third-place game on Saturday and Sunday's final -- it will
finish as the third highest drawing World Cup.
The 1994 World Cup, hosted by the USA, will maintain its record as the best attended with 3.59 million despite it hosting only 52 games, compared to 64 games in South Africa and at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, where 3.36 million came to the the stadiums for the second highest turnout ever.
South Africa's World Cup games have so far averaged just over 50,000. The USA-hosted World Cup averaged 68,991 fans per game.
