World Cup amateur retires

New Zealand midfielder Andy Barron, who played the last four minutes of a 1-1 tie with Italy and was the only amateur at the 2010 World Cup, has retired to focus on his full-time banking job.

Barron had played for amateur club Petone in suburban Wellington. He said he always taken vacation to play for New Zealand and owed it to his employers to concentrate on his career.
