Premier League increases support for lower clubs

More of the wealth generated by Premier League clubs will trickle down to teams in the lower three divisions under a plan adopted Wednesday.

The three-year deal is worth 372 million pounds ($569 million) and increases the amounts of "parachute" payments for clubs relegated from the Premier League to 48 million pounds ($73.44) million) spread over four seasons.

It will also distribute money to all of teams in the League Championship, League 1, and League 2. Those clubs have adopted new guidelines for financial benchmarks, ownership structure and facility standards.
