Add Detroit to the list of cities that wish to enter the MLS futures race. An ambitious plan to renovate the Silverdome, formerly home to the NFL Lions and a World Cup 1994 venue, includes a soccerfacility to house an MLS team.

An indoor arena and concert hall are also components for the renovated facility. A group led by businessman Andreas Apostolopoulos boughtthe Silverdome for $583,000 last year and is staging a friendly between AC Milan and Panathinaikos in the stadium on Friday.
