Following a two-week U.S. tour that ended Thursday with a 2-2 tie against FC Dallas, Inter Milan, the defending European and Italian champion, returned home to continue its preparations for the
start of the Serie A season Aug. 30 against Bologna.
"The players had to improve their physical condition," said Coach Rafael Benitez, who left Liverpool for Inter following the departure of Jose Mourinho to Real Madrid. "That was not easy as the players who were involved in the World Cup finals and arrived late as a result, but overall we are happy now with their state and we can now focus on the tactics."
Benitez's competitive debut with Inter will be the UEFA Super Cup against Europa League champion Atletico Madrid Aug. 27 in Monaco.
