Padres closer calls match 'asinine'

The Chivas USA-Chivas game at Petco Field doesn't sit well with players on San Diego's baseball team. The Padres are in first place in the National League's Western Division and don't want anyone messing with their "office" when the Chivas teams square off on Sept. 14.

Closer Heath Bell said the game was "asinine" and that was before was told the pitching mound would be taken out and rebuilt after the soccer match so the infield could be sodded.

“They’re not worried about the field looking good," Bell said. "They’re just trying to make a profit. Very interesting … I’m sure Luke [Yoder] and his [grounds] crew will make it right, but we have the best pitching staff in the major leagues and that mound is our office. It should not be messed with at this time of the season.”

LOL, sorrrrrrrry Heath... As for me, I can't wait until we send out the Marlins and their 5,000 fans from Miami and a new MLS team takes over that $1 billion stadium. Then it will be properly used.
