U.S. OPEN CUP: Gomez gem gives Galaxy title

The Los Angeles Galaxy won the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Wednesday night with a 1-0 victory against FC Dallas thanks to Herculez GomezÆs side-volley from 12 yards out off Chris AlbrightÆs cross

The goal for Gomez was his sixth in the 2005 Open Cup, tying for the competitions top scoring honors for the year with Melvin Tarley of the Minnesota Thunder who also had six goals.

''Chris Albright played in a pretty great ball,'' Gomez said. ''It was just sitting up there. This is what dreams are made of.''
