Warzycha on fire for Buckeyes

[OHIO STATE MEN] Konrad Warzycha, son of Columbus Crew head coach Robert Warzycha, scored on a free kick for his third straight game winning goal in No. 9 Ohio State's 2-1 win over Bucknell.

Warzycha, who was named the Most Valuable Player of the Penn State Classic, took a free kick from about 28 yards out and caught the Bison keeper Tommy Caso off his line. The shot deflected off a defender and went in the goal before Caso could react.

Warzycha had the only goal from the penalty spot in the Buckeyes' 1-0 win over the College of Charleston on Friday. In their previous game, he scored  both goals on penalties in a 2-0 win over Buffalo.

Buckeyes have started the season at 4-0-0 for the first time since 1986.

“We played pretty well today,” OSU coach John Bluem said after the Bucknell game. “We got a nice goal from Konrad early on and were able to hang on. The team is very pleased to go through first two weekends with, not only four wins, but also only allowing one goal. I don’t think we are playing our best soccer yet, but I am certainly happy with results.”
