Ballouchy 'good fit' for Red Bulls

[MLS] As the 2010 MLS trade deadline approached, the New York Red Bulls picked up Moroccan-born midfielder Mehdi Ballouchy from Colorado for Macoumba Kandji in a move intended to bolster their midfield in their bid to win the 2010 MLS championship.

Ballouchy had a career-high three goals and five assists in 21 games for the Rapids this season

"We have seen Mehdi in several matches and think that he will be a good fit for our squad," said Red Bull New York general manager and sporting director Erik Soler. "We have been looking for an attacking midfielder throughout the season and Mehdi certainly has the attributes to play that role for us. We are excited to have him as we make our run towards the MLS playoffs."

The Senegalese Kandji had just one goal in 13 games this season for New York.
