Dispute over taxi fare at root of Socceroo's arrest

A dispute over a $13 cab fare sparked the incident that led to the arrest of former Australian national team captain Craig Moore by Dubai police, with which he had an altercation.

The National newspaper cited Dubai police as saying that Moore drunkenly argued with the cab driver over a 50 dirham fare. After police were called to intervene, "He then shoved one of the officers," the newspaper said.

The defender who played club ball at Glasgow Rangers, Borussia Moenchengladbach and Newcastle United retired in July after playing for the Socceroos at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
