South Korea and Japan set up all-Asian final

[UNDER-17 WOMEN'S WORLD CUP] South Korea beat Spain, 2-1, and Japan ousted defending champion North Korea by the same score to set up an all-Asian final at the U-17 Women’s World Cup in Trinidad & Tobago.

Like against Nigeria in the quarterfinals when it came back to win, 6-5, South Korea overcame an early deficit against Spain to win on goals by Yeo Min Ji -- her eighth in five games -- and Joo Soojin -- who took advantage of a mistake by Spanish defender Ivan Andres to score what proved to be the winning goal late in the first half.

After falling behind on a blunder by keeper Eri Hirao, Japan also rallied to beat North Korea on goals by Hikari Tagaki and star Kumi Yokoyama one minutes apart in the second half.

Neither South Korea or Japan has won a FIFA championship.

The final will be played at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain.
