The Gold Pride is a heavy favorite to win the Women's Professional Soccer title Sunday, when it hosts the Philadelphia Independence in the title game. The Gold Pride has the best player in the
world, Brazilian forward Marta, who led the league with 19 goals.
Four Pride players will be part of the U.S. national team's preliminary roster, including Nicole
Barnhart, the league's top goalkeeper. It has Canadian whiz Christine Sinclair, who had a league-leading nine assists, along with French star Camille Abily
and defender Ali Riley, the WPS rookie of the year.
It finished the regular season with a 16-3-5 record and hasn't lost in two months. Philadelphia earned its spot in the final with a 2-1
over Boston on Thursday while the Gold Pride moved straight into the final by finishing atop the regular-season standings.
Pride midfielder Shannon Box said, "The other
team is coming in tired but with momentum. We're the fresh team. We need to press hard and hopefully make them tired quicker."
