South Korean persistence pays off

[UNDER-17 WOMEN'S WORLD CUP] South Korea twice overcame one-goal deficits to tie Japan, 3-3, after regulation and overtime and beat its Asian rival, 3-2,
in a shootout to win the Under-17 Women's World Cup, its first FIFA championship.
Fans at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, were treated to a
spectacular show with goals by South Korea's Lee Jungeun from 25 yards and Japan's Hikaru Naomoto from 30 yards in the
first 30 minutes.
The South Koreans, who succeed North Korea as U-17 women's champions, matched Japanese goals by Yoko Tanaka and Chika Kato with equalizers from Yeo Min Ji -- her tournament-high eighth goal in six games -- and Lee So Dam.
