O'Reilly gets job done

[U.S. WOMEN] Heather O'Reilly had a goal and an assist to lead the United States to a 2-1 win over China in the first of two-game exhibition series before 4,779 fans at the new Kennesaw State University Soccer Stadium.

In the first of two warmups before 2011 Women's World Cup qualifying takes place in Mexico, the Americans outshot the Chinese, 20-6, but poor finishing kept the game close.

The USA had several chances before it went ahead in the 21st minute when Megan Rapinoe scored with a first-time shot off O’Reilly's cross into the box.

China tied the game in the 33rd minute when Qu Shanshan scored on a rebound after goalkeeper Jill Loyden, making her U.S. debut, made a great save on a shot by Wang Yihang.

Only four minutes later, the USA ahead again when Abby Wambach hit a hard cross on the ground to the far post. where she found O’Reilly. The Sky Blue FC star's first attempt from close range hit the right post, but she managed to stuff the rebound home from just inches off the goal line.

The match also marked the first start for O'Reilly's Sky Blue teammate, Christie Rampone, since July 2009, after which she took time off to have her second daughter, who was born in March of this year.

The USA and China will meet again Wednesday at PPL Park in Chester, Pa. (TV: ESPN2, live, 7 p.m. ET).
