Poland and Colombia missing injured stars

[SCOUTING REPORTS] Both Poland and Colombia, which will face the USA in friendlies over the next week, will be missing key players. Ireneusz Jelen, Poland's top striker, is injured, while Colombia will be without veteran defender Ivan Cordoba, who was injured in Inter Milan's 0-0 tie with Juventus.

POLAND. Coach Franciszek Smuda gave late call-ups to defender Artur Jedrzejczyk of Legia Warsaw and midfielder Jacek Kielb of Lech Poznan. Smuda hoped to call up Dariusz Dudka, Jelen's teammate at French club Auxerre, but Dudka was not released.

The Poles, co-hosts of Euro 2012, play the USA on Saturday at Chicago's Soldier Field before heading to Montreal to face Ecuador Tuesday at Parc Saputo.

COLOMBIA. Colombia begins training Tuesday at Montclair State University, where the New York Red Bulls practice, in preparation for games against Ecuador Friday at Red Bull Arena and the USA Tuesday at PPL Park in Chester, Pa.

Hernan Dario Gomez recalled 39-year-old goalkeeper Farid Mondragon after a five-year absence. Defender Aquivaldo Mosquera also returned to the national team after sitting out the last World Cup qualifying cycle.

None of the Colombians playing in MLS earned call-ups.
