Impact takes edge in semifinal series

[D-2 PRO LEAGUE] Argentine Leonardo Di Lorenzo's goal on a free kick gave the defending champion Montreal Impact a 1-0 win over the Carolina RailHawks and was the only goal in the Thursday's two first legs in the D-2 Pro League semifinal series. Puerto Rico and Vancouver played to a 0-0 tie in the other game.

Di Lorenzo slipped his shot past the wall, and RailHawks goalkeeper Eric Reed, in the 35th minute.

In Puerto Rico, Jay Nolly was outstanding for the Whitecaps, coming up with several big saves. The Islanders' best chance came in the 5th minute when Kendall Jagdeosingh hit a low shot that Nolly tipped just enough for it to hit the far post go out.
