Chelsea demonstrated the depths England’s big clubs will go to snap up young talent when it signed 11-year-old Michael Gyasi from the centre of excellence atNorthampton Town, currently ranked 90th out of 92 English pro clubs.

Gyasi, a German-born striker, spent a little over two years at Northampton Town and first drew the attention ofChelsea scouts a year ago in an under-10 game.

Chelsea, which first brought him to training last summer, paid a down payment of 10,000 pounds ($16,000) to Northampton for Gyasi.
