[SMALL COLLEGE] Cody Kessler's goal for the Merchant Marine Academy 39 minutes into Wednesday's 1-1 tie against Stevens
Institute of Technology snapped goalie Zach Carr's scoreless at 1,333 consecutive minutes -- the second largest streak in NCAA history behind only former Drew
goalkeeper Peter Boyer's string of 1,428 minutes of scoreless soccer.
The goal was the first allowed by the Ducks (8-0-3) in 11 games. They are ranked fifth in NCAA Division III.
As a sophomore in 2008, Carr led Stevens to the final of the NCAA Men's Division III Tournament, where it lost in a shootout. He was named an NSCAA All-American in both 2008 and 2009.
Carr, a biomedical engineering major with a 3.91 GPA, was also a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine first-team Academic All-American in 2009.
He grew in Carmel, Ind., but was attracted to the New Jersey school because of its biomedical engineering program.
Of his success on the field, Carr says, “It was pretty surprising!"
