Donovan unsure about return to Everton

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Landon Donovan has had only six weeks off in the last 18 months, and that looks to be the biggest hurdle Everton faces in convincing the Los Angeles Galaxy star to return to Goodison Park.

He played on loan for two and a half months at the beginning of the year before returning to the Galaxy for the start of the MLS season.

"It would be hard to say no," he told BBC Radio Merseyside. "I really hope that, if it's not this year, I get to go back there and play again. But if you asked me now, I would lean towards a little more uncertainty. Last time when [Everton manager] David Moyes called, I was extremely excited about it and I just have to make sure that I get the appropriate rest."

Donovan said he'd need to be convinced the move made sense for him and the club.

"The last thing you want is to go somewhere when you're not 100 percent," he said. "You're then not only failing the club, but you're failing yourself as well. When I was there, I felt loved and accepted and I think they appreciate the way I play."

If he has November and December off when MLS is done he should be fine for January through March @ Everton. Also, he has no need to participate in any USMNT "Team Bradley" meaningless friendlies during that time.
