RSL and Crew to meet in quarterfinals

[CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE] MLS is assured of a team in the semifinals of the Concacaf Champions League for the first time as Real Salt Lake and the Columbus Crew were drawn to face each other in the quarterfinals, scheduled to be played Feb. 22-24 and March 1-3.

The MLS winner will face Olimpia of Honduras or Saprissa of Costa Rica in one semifinal, while the other will be an all-Mexican semifinal.

Four Mexican teams reached the quarterfinals. Cruz Azul, the Champions League runner-up the past two seasons, will face Santos in one quarterfinal, while Monterrey will play Toluca in another.

    Paul: Was this draw random? Or did CONCACAF intend to make sure that two clubs from the same country doesn't reach the final game? Actually, it's better this way. It doesn't do well for CONCACAF league championship's popularity to have 4 Mexican teams in the semifinals each year.
