Projected NCAA Division I tournament field

[COLLEGE MEN] The NCAA men's soccer committee will deliberate to select the 26 at-large teams that will accompany the 22 conference champions to the NCAA Division I Men's Tournament. Here are the 48 teams Soccer America projects will earn bids.

With nine automatic qualifiers ranked higher than No. 60 and four over 100 in last week's RPI, the NCAA Division I Men's Tournament will have its share of longshots. The weekend results of conference tournament play also left several teams on the bubble, sweating out the deliberations of the NCAA men's soccer committee.

Two teams of note are ineligible for the NCAA Tournament.

Wake Forest's 1-0 loss to Virginia left the Demon Deacons with an 8-9-1 record and therefore ineligible for selection. They had made the Men's College Cup the last four years.

Florida Gulf Coast, winner of the Atlantic Sun regular-season title and ranked by Soccer America for much of the season, is in its NCAA reclassifying period.

On the bubble are South Florida, Loyola Marymount and High Point, among others.

Congratulations to Xavier on making the NCAA tournament. They deserved the A10 title after beating Temple, Charlotte and LaSalle in the conference
tournament. I'm a Temple fan and hoping next year will be the year for us to win the A10 and finally get back into the NCAA tournament. Go Owls!

St. Peter's College of the MAAC has a fabulous mid fielder from South Africa named Lebongang Pila who will probably be drafted by an MLS team. St. Peter's plays Providence in the first round.
