USA to open 2011 season against Chile

[DATEBOOK] The U.S. men's national team will open its 2011 season with an international friendly against Chile Jan. 22 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

The game will conclude the traditional winter training camp with which U.S.-based players begin the year.

The USA has played Chile eight times, beginning with a 5-2 victory for Chile at the 1950 World Cup.

The Americans have won the last three contests, including a 2-1 win in their opening match of the 1995 Copa America, to improve their record against Chile to 3-4-1 overall.

The USA will host the Gold Cup in 2011. Chile, which reached the second round of the 2010 World Cup, will be preparing for the 2011 Copa America in Argentina.

    I hope BB looks at other US players over the next two yrs. Hopefully we'll
    get back on track with the mens program,
    with lots of new talent, and congrates to Tim Reams and others who were selected for the up and coming Chilian
    game.
