FIFA suspensions of Adamu and Temarii confirmed

FIFA executive committee members Amos Adamu and Reynald Temarii have been suspended for three years and one year, respectively, concluding the investigation of FIFA's ethics committee into the sting operation of the Sunday Times and revelations that would trade support for "soccer projects" for their vote.

Their suspensions mean that Adamu and Temarii will not vote when the hosts of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups be the selected on Dec. 2. The ethics committee also suspended four other FIFA officials for saying they could serve as "fixers."

“The way FIFA and the ethics committee reacted in such a short period of time, less than month, shows how important it is for us to make sure that things are under control,” FIFA General Secretary Jerome Valcke said.

An investigation into charges that Spain/Portugal, which is bidding for the 2018 World Cup, and Qatar, which has aggressively bid for 2022, had colluded was dropped.
