Colorado's Mullan eyes another crown

Sunday's MLS Cup marks Brian Mullan's sixth trip to the league final with four different teams in his 10 seasons. The 32-year-old Colorado Rapids midfielder has won it four times.

"It's what we play the game for, so I’m excited to be in another one,” said Mullan, who grew up in Littleton, Colo., and was traded to the Rapids by the Houston Dynamo just hours before MLS rosters were frozen in September. "Aside from the first one, which I lost, they’ve all felt really, really good.”

Mullan came on as a substitute in 2001 for the L.A. Galaxy in a 2-1 loss to San Jose. The next season he was on the Galaxy team that beat the New England Revolution 1-0, but didn’t play in the championship game. In 2003 with San Jose and 2006 and 2007 with Houston, he started and won.

If he plays and the Rapids win on Sunday, Mullan will be just the fourth player in league history to be on the field for four MLS Cup victories.
