[MLS CUP 2010] The Colorado Rapids won their first MLS championship with a 2-1 win over FC Dallas on George John's own
goal in overtime.
The goal came early in the second overtime when sub Macoumba Kandji's shot deflected off John and went into the goal at the near post.
Dallas had two late chances, but goalie Matt Pickens saved John's shot and Jeff Cunningham's shot heading toward the goal was cleared away by Drew Moor.
Just as he did in the Western Conference final at Los Angeles, MLS MVP David Ferreira opened the scoring for FC Dallas with a well-taken ball following a ball from Marvin Chavez that split the Rapids' backline.
Conor Casey had scored from close range early in the second half to even the final.
