Wind helps turn Boston College corner kick into golden goal

[COLLEGE] Boston College joined Stanford, Notre Dame and Ohio State in the Women's College Cup with a 1-0 overtime win thanks to Hannah Cerrone's wind-aided goal over Washington. The victory sets up a replay of BC's season opener against No. 1 Stanford, which ended in a 1-1 tie.

As several players waited in front of the goal, a  strong gust of wind carried Cerrone's corner kick past Washington's goaltender Jorde LaFontaine-Kussman for the only goal of the game with 4:46 remaining in the first overtime.

BC goalie Jillian Mastroanni made two huge stops on the Huskies' Alex Webber in the first half and finished with five saves for the game.

The quarterfinal match was played in flurries Saturday in Newton, Mass.

The semifinals will be held Friday in Cary, N.C. BC (17-6-1) faces Stanford (22-0-2) in on game, while Ohio State (17-5-2) and Notre Dame (19-2-2) meet in the other.

The first semifinal will be telecast live on ESPN2 and ESPNU at 4 p.m. ET. The second game will air live on ESPNU at 6:30 p.m. ET.
