Top seed Cardinals prevail before another big crowd

[LOUISVILLE-OHIO STATE MEN] No. 1 seed Louisville edged Ohio State, 2-1, before 4,251 fans -- and another 1,300 watching on the berm -- at Cardinal Park on Sunday evening to advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Men's Tournament and improve to a school record 18-0-3.

Charlie Campbell put the Cardinals ahead in the 24th minute on a header, but Ohio State got back in the game when Austin McAnena received a pass from Omar Vallejo at the top of the box and scored to make the score 1-1 in the 52nd minute.

Louisville won the game in the 62nd minute when Nick DeLeon fed Austin Berry for a header into the upper left hand corner of the goal, his fourth goal of the year.

The total attendance of 5,562 surpassed the record crowd set last week to watch a college soccer game in the state of Kentucky.

With their 21st straight win, the Cardinals tied St. John's record (set in 1993) for the longest unbeaten streak in Big East history.
