Tar Heels have lived dangerously

[NORTH CAROLINA MEN] North Carolina, the No. 4 seed, has lived dangerously in the NCAA Men's Tournament, having won all three games by shootout. The Tar Heels won't want to test their luck in the shootout against top-seed Louisville on Friday. They lost on penalties to Akron in the 2009 semifinals, depriving them of a return trip to the championship game.

UNC certainly has the experience. Its five starting seniors -- Eddie Ababio, Jalil Anibaba, Michael Farfan, Stephen McCarthy and Dustin McCarty -- have all been invited to the adidas MLS Combine in January.

It also has the strongest California connection of any of the four semifinalists.

Anibaba and Farfan are both from California, and they and McCarthy started out in college at California schools -- Anibaba and McCarthy at Santa Clara and Farfan at Cal State Fullerton.
