Cardinals take unbeaten record into semifinals

[LOUISVILLE MEN] Ken Lolla left Akron in 2005 to accept the vacancy at Louisville, and he has quickly built the Cardinals into a national power. They are top-seeded and unbeaten entering Friday's semifinal against North Carolina at the Men's College Cup in Santa Barbara, Calif. (TV: ESPNU, live, 8:30 p.m. ET).

Lolla, a former coach in the U.S. national youth team program, has certainly used his connections well. The starting lineup features players from 10 different states.

Like its semifinal opponent North Carolina, Louisville has lots of experience, including five red-shirts in the starting lineup.

Louisville also has three key transfers. Charlie Campbell played on Virginia Tech's final four team in 2007. Nick DeLeon (son of former NASL star Leroy DeLeon) and Brock Granger played at UNLV for Mario Sanchez, who was reunited with Lolla as his assistant.

Freshman star Dylan Mares got a callup to the U.S. under-20 national team camp next week.
