Wolverines out for revenge

[MICHIGAN MEN] Michigan can thank Akron for the 7-1 pounding it handed the Wolverines in October. Since then, they've won nine straight games, outscoring their opponents by 27-11 and advancing to the Men's College Cup for the first time in the program's young history. Best of all, they get a rematch with the Zips Friday (TV: ESPN2, ESPN3.com, live, 11 p.m. ET).

The Wolverines feature one of the nation's most exciting attacks. Senior Justin Meram, returned home after playing for Arizona JC power Yavapai, has scored 11 goals in Michigan's last nine games to give him 16 goals, sixth in the country.

Freshman Soony Saad is ahead of him with 19th goals, second in the country. Saad's older brother, Hamoody, completes the trio of scoring aces for the Wolverines, who won the Big Ten Tournament.

Akron shouldn't overlook freshman midfielder Fabio Pereira, though. The Brazilian supersub scored his first career goal and game-winner in OT in the 3-2 win at No. 2 seed Maryland.
