[AMERICANS ABROAD] Back in the Bolton Wanderers lineup after being out with a thigh injury, Stuart Holden scored on a
half-volley from 20 yards to give 10-man Bolton a dramatic 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers that moved it into sixth place in the English Premier League.
The former Houston Dynamo midfielder's goal came in the 88th minute just seconds after Mame Biram Diouf had equalized for Blackburn.
From the kickoff after Diouf's equalizer, Holden raced on to the ball Kevin Davies nodded down, chested it down and blasted it with his left foot inside the near post past goalkeeper Paul Robinson for his second goal for Bolton.
Bolton had Mark Davies sent off in the 56th minute dismissal took the lead nine minutes later on a goal by England under-21 midfielder Fabrice Muamba.
“What I loved was that, having lost an equalizer so late in the game and being down to 10 men, it would be easy to feel sorry for yourself,” Bolton manager Owen Coyle said. “But with this group, their first instinct was to go forward and to try to win it, even with 10 men.”
