Congratulations to all of the kids recognized.

However, brickbats to Soccer America for both, preparing such a superficial list and publishing this late and at a time when everyone is preoccupied with Christmas.

Soccer America did the freshmen defenders a huge disservice by naming only 4 defenders and but a single defender on the second team. Last time I looked, a team is comprised of a minimum of three defenders on the field.

Off the cuff, I can name at least five that should of been considered: Joe Sofia - UCLA (second in freshmen minutes played only to Rowe w/two assists in the NCAA tournament and on a Quarterfinalist team), J.J. Koval, who started 17/18 games for the Stanford Cardinal, Connor Dreshler of Cal Poly SLO who started and played in every game in the rough and tumble Big West, Eli Gailbraith Knapp of USD who earned All Freshmen team WCC honors and Blair Jeralds of Denver w/15 starts.

Disappointing the SA staff couldn't of been more thorough. Why do this if but half-assed?
